How Vlogs Encourage Immersive Viewing

Ein Videoessay von Jackie Einsiedl.

Within the seminar Eigene Blicke – Fremde Blicke (gazes of the self – gazes of the stranger) we learned about the concept of suture from Jean-Pierre Oudart. However, we also learned about how Matthias Wittman proposed a new model called stitching. This originated from the point of view, that suture cannot incorporate itself in the worldbuilding of 360°-virtualy reality. In this following video essay I look at this assumption on the basis of video logs (short: vlogs), especially travel vlogs, and explain how they and suture still encourage immersive viewing.
